LAN
See local area network.
leaf site
A machine on Usenet that talks to only one other machine instead of passing news
onto other machines.
line noise
Static on a telephone line that causes trouble for modems and sometimes
leased-line connections.
LISTSERV
A powerful program for automating mailing lists. It currently requires an IBM
mainframe, but that requirement may change in the near future.
local area network
Often abbreviated LAN. Two or more computers connected together via network
cables. A Windows for Workgroups setup is a typical local area network.
